Patrick and Brittany Mahomes have starred in a campaign for Kim Kardashian‘s SKIMS shapewear brand but some people are unimpressed.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and his high school sweetheart wife starred with their children, daughter Sterling Skye, 2, and son, Patrick “Bronze” Lavon, who turns one later this month.

They appeared in a Christmas campaign for Kardashian’s loungewear range.

“THE HOLIDAY SHOP IS NOW OPEN! The Mahomes Family kick off the festivities in our seasonal Cozy loungewear,” Kardashian posted on her Instagram.

While Brittany Mahomes shared the images to her own Instagram with the caption: “Fam🖤.”

But some conspiratorially minded people in the comments section accused Kardashian of using the Mahomes to get closer to Taylor Swift. The singer has been dating NFL star Patrick Mahomes’ teammate, Travis Kelce.

“Oh she … knows exactly what’s she’s doing,” wrote one person.

Another added: “Seems like someone’s trying to get closer to a certain someone who’s been hanging with these people lately.”

And a third wrote: “Kim stays obsessed with Queen Tay.”

Others pointed out the Mahomes were likely approached long before Kelce and Swift started dating, as product and marketing planning begins months in advance.

“This was probably made months ago, most products take time,” commented one person.

Kardashian and Swift have had a chequered past, especially while the former was married to rapper Kanye West, now known as Ye.

Ye and Swift have had their problems, including when he stormed the stage at the 2009 VMAs to rip the microphone out of her hand, after she had won Video of the Year, in defense of Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” video. He would later go on to name-check Swift in a song called “Famous,” in which he refers to her in a sexual manner.

The video for that song also featured a mannequin resembling Swift in bed with Ye.

After facing backlash for the song, Ye claimed Swift knew about the lyrics and even gave him the green light.

Kardashian defended her then husband, telling GQ magazine in 2016 that “she totally approved that” and “wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn’t.”

A month after that interview Kardashian released footage of Ye and Swift’s phone call where Swift allegedly gave her blessing, but did not know she was being recorded.

Swift claims she was never informed about the “made that b**** famous” line. In a now-deleted statement on Instagram, the singer said: “Where is the video of Kanye telling me he was going to call me ‘that b****’ in his song? It doesn’t exist because it never happened.

“Being falsely painted as a liar when I was never given the full story or played any part of the song is character assassination.”

Fast forward to 2020 and a so-called unedited clip of that phone call leaked on social media. Swift fans took it as proof she was telling the truth and was not informed about the “made that b**** famous” line.
